                                Props For Cheating Jordan Baker

The props that I want for this shoot are tones of emotion, a golf trophy and a male model grabbing onto a part of her body as she walks away with her trophy in her hand.

Props For Jordan Baker Playing Golf

I want Jordan holding a golf club but I want her to be holding the gold club like she's independent.

I want Jordan to have a golf caddy, so I will need a male for my this shoot. In my shoot though I want the golf caddy to be looked down on instead of like he's helping Jordan out because Jordan doesn't need a mans help.

Props For Jordan Baker As A Flapper

For my first shoot 'Jordan Baker As A Flapper' I would like her to be holding a glass of champagne to show her class and a cigarette as in the 1920's many women smoked but they would have a cigarette holder but I chose to give Jordan a cigarette as this is the modern day Jordan.
                                           Cheating Jordan Baker

I want to shoot this image in a studio. As I feel the main feature is going to be Jordans expressions and therefore I want the camera to be focusing on her face and so I don't need a lot going on in the background.
                                                          Jordan Golfing
I want my image for Jordan Golfing to be set on a golf course or in a field. This is because I've been inspired by the image below and I feel the fact that a golf course is uneven it gives my photographer the perfect angle to capture the 'Jordan Baker'.

                                       Jordan As A Flapper Location

There is a place in Southampton where guests would stay before the titanic. They have stairs like this in them. As the titanic happened 10 years before the era of The Great Gatsby, this is how I imagine the mansions to be in the West Egg of New York. I hope to shoot my pictures for Jordan as a flapper in this place as I feel it would be perfect.

                                                     Face Charts
This is my face chart for Jordan Baker as a flapper. I wanted to add a veil as I thought it would add more to the make up as she usually has very subtle make up apart from her lips. I took inspiration from the Alexandra McQueen veils.

This is my face chart for Jordan Baker when she's playing golf. I kept it pretty simple but kept the red lip. Her eyes are very natural with a bit of mascara. I kept the red lip as I feel Jordan Baker always wears red lip stick.

This is my face chart for Jordan Baker when she is in her golfing competitions, the way she will do anything to win a competition is reflected in the make up for this. I've given her brown eyeshadow but a bit bolder and put more mascara on as this will make her eyebrows bold and stand out perfect for flirting her way through a competition.
                                                     Veils In Fashion

Alexandra McQueen sent models down the catwalk wearing these honeycomb style veils. Again I find this an interesting way of creating a veil. I wouldn't use the style but i like the idea of the honeycomb style.
                                              Veils In Fashion

In Paris Autumn/Winter 2012 designer Giambattista Valli also sent his models down the runway wearing these veils. They all had netting and or butterflies attached to their netting. I think this is a great thing to look into as its a different way of interpreting a veil.
                                                       Veils In Fashion

This is an Armani catwalk where make up artist Linda Cantello created this look using a see through veils with diamantes gently and delicately placed on the veils. I think this is great and I could create one for my shoot of Jordan Baker as a flapper.
                                            1920's Veils/Headpieces

In the 1920's flappers wore veils and fancy headpieces to parties and gatherings. So I feel that for my image of Jordan as a flapper that it would be acceptable to feature her wearing a veil or headpiece. These are images of 1920's style veils and headpieces.

                                                     Cheating Jordan Baker
I found this fabulous image on Pinterest of a 1920's inspired look! I just love this image and in a way it reminds me of Jordan Baker, it reminds me of her flirtatious side and way she's looking into the mirror shows me the side of her where she will do anything to win her golfing tournaments ! Its a part of Jordan that you don't see a lot of but its a side that to me plays a big part.
1920's For Women

This video helped to give me a lot of insight into what the 1920's was like for women! This will help me to create my character, Jordan Baker as I can take into account all these different events that happened, what they worse and the styles of hair & make up.

CHANEL
Rouge Allure Red

Chanel is the perfect brand to use as their looks are very 1920's. I imagine Jordan to wear a red lip to parties. The red lip is something that has to be perfect to represent class and sophistication if its applied wrong it can look cheap and tacky. Heres a video on how to get that perfect lip which I feel Jordan Baker would pull off with class and elegance. The lipstick used is Rouge Allure in 99 PIRATE.

 Madonna By Helmut Newton

This photograph of Madonna by Helmut Newton represents my character, Jordan as she will do anything to win her golfing tournaments and here shows Madonna holding a mans head looking into the distance as if she's seducing and manipulising this man to get what she wants which is the same as what Jordan would do to win a golfing tournament.
Golfing at Le Touquet, Harpers Bazaar, 1939

This image reflects my character, not just because the woman is a golfer but because the way she holds her head up right is like shes saying she cant be messed with, shes a strong woman and shes in charge. She has a male golf caddy in the background which to me shows that she isnt going let any man think shes worthless and shes a strong woman. She's wearing a skirt suit which represents 'the new woman'. Shes also paying full attention to where the ball is going showing that shes very with it and alert at most times. The way her leg is placed infront of her, with her posture as straight as a piece of paper shows she's a confident person.
1920's Sportswear

This Coco Chanel look was from the Spring/Summer 2008 collection. Jordan Baker epitomises the Jazz age fashion. This is the perfect look for a 21st century Jordan Baker. The left hand look is a more relaxed sportswear and the right hand look is a more classier/fashionable look.

These are some hangbags that I have picked out from the A/W 2013/2014 fashion shows, that I feel are right for my character and which will help to create my 3 different pictures.

This bag by Burberry would be perfect for Jordan as an every day handbag as its very bold and classy with out being very girly.

Jordan could use this bag by Burberry for her dates with nick as its still very simple but the little bit of fur shows that she knows how to have a bit of fun.
These images are based on what I imagine by character to be wearing if she was based in a 21st century. I have taken into account that my character is seen as 'the new woman.' These looks are from the A/W 2013-2014 look fashion shows.

My character would wear this playsuit during the day depending on the material and I would leave the playsuit black or possibly white but nothing complicated as shes a very straight forward woman. This playsuit by Antonio Beradi. Its very masculine but feminine at the same time.

I imagine Jordan to wear this outfit to a party or to a social gathering a place where shes willing to let people in and show who she really is underneath her 'independant woman' look but I dont imagine the material to be in this pattern though, I can imagine it to be quite a simple pattern or maybe just a colour that represents her being a little bit flirtactious, maybe in a silk material for evening wear. The designers name for this is Giles.

I can see Jordan wearing this outfit to a dinner meal or even out for a date with Nick. To me this look shows that shes in control and she doesnt need to be looked after, shes a very independant woman. This is by Osman.

Social & Culture

The new woman: Changing views of women in the 1920's

Charleston Dance Becomes Popular

The charleston dance became popular after appearing along with the song, "The Charleston," by James p. Johnson in the broadway musical Runnin' Wild in 1923. The dance was tracked back to the black who lived on an island off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina. The Charleston dance had been performed in black communities since 1903 but didn't become popular till 1923.

1920's Music

By the twenties Jazz gained huge popularity in America and worldwide. New dance routines were devised. Jazz was being played in dance halls and roadhouses all over the country.

Make Up & Hair

During the 1920's women would colour there faces with cream or ivory face powder. Later on in the twenties a powder which matched to the nature hue of skin- perhaps a shade brighter came in fashion.
Mid twenties women wore a deep red, deep brownish reds, plum and orange on their lips, by the end of the twenties rose, raspberry and medium red were a new trend.

Usually eyes were quite dark. the whole eye was edged with a black eyeliner and then blurred from the outside of the eyelid, inwards. Eyelashes were then painted in black.

Eyebrows were thin and downward sloping which were inked with black or brown eyeliner.

Nails were only painted in the center.

Hair

1920's changed from traditional long hair style of the victorian era to new short hair style like the bob. Stylish curls and waves were added in the mid twenties. They used a technique which was called a finger wave.
